Things to Do in Greenville NC with Kids During the 2017 Holiday Season

Hip hip hooray!  The holidays are here!  If you live in or around Greenville, NC and you are looking for kid-friendly holiday events, you are in the right place!  Here’s a list of both fun and educational things you can do with your kids to get into the 2017 Christmas spirit.

2017 Kid-Friendly Holiday Events in Greenville, NC

Greenville, NC Christmas Parade

Christmas Parade 2017 Greenville NCSaturday, December 9th, at 5 pm is this year’s annual Christmas Parade. Hosted by the Jaycees, the Greenville Christmas Parade marches through the Uptown Greenville area giving attendees their first celebration of the Christmas holidays. Traditionally, the parade hosts around 150 entrants including floats, marching bands, local merchants, and of course, Santa and his elves!

Festival of Trees

The annual Festival of the Trees begins on November 24th and goes all the way through December 23rd. Conveniently located at the Greenville Convention Center, the Festival of Trees is open to the public and is a free event. Open daily from 8 am – 5 pm, The Festival of Trees features 100 decorated trees by local businesses, individuals, and civic groups.

Christmas Town and Parade in Ayden, NC

Thursday, November 30th from 4 pm – 8 pm, Ayden hosts it’s annual Christmas Town and Christmas Parade. Local businesses will be open late to host holiday sales and activities for the kids, restaurants will offer dinner specials, food trucks will be serving delicious food from West Avenue, hayrides are available until 6 pm from the corner of 3rd and Pitt Street.  There’s also a Christmas Gift Market on Lee Street with over 20 vendors and a Christmas Village complete with snow machines will be hosting Santa and Mrs. Claus from 4 pm – 6:30 pm. The Christmas Carolers begin at 6 pm and are followed by the annual Ayden Christmas parade starting at 6:30 on Lee Street.

Greenville Gives Holiday Tree Lighting

Come to Five Points Plaza at West 5th at Evans from 5:30 pm – 7 pm on Friday, December 1st to join in the Christmas spirit with the annual tree lighting. Greenville Gives kicks off the holiday season with the lighting of the Greenville Christmas tree, community performances, non-profit charities, Santa, trolley rides, a holiday arts market, giveaways, craft tables and face painting for the kids.  This is a free community event hosted by Uptown Greenville and Greenville, NC Recreation & Parks.

Santa Cares at Greenville Mall

Santa Cares event at Greenville NC MallSanta Cares is an event for families with children with all spectrums of special needs, providing a compassionate environment to visit The Santa Photo Experience. Simple adjustments are made to reduce sensory stimuli (such as lights, music and waiting for Santa at activity tables) to create a calming environment. The Santa Cares event will take place prior to store openings at the Greenville, NC mall on Sunday, December 3rd from 10 am – 12 pm. The event is free to anyone who wants to attend, and Santa photo packages will be available for purchase. Santa Cares is held in partnership with Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the cause, prevention, treatment and cure for autism. Hayrides and Storytime with Santa

Raised in a Barn Farm is hosting a holiday event Friday, December 1st from 6 pm – 8 pm. This year’s holiday event includes a hayride, making of a special keepsake ornament, cookies, hot cocoa, and storytime with Santa. After the hayride around the farm with Christmas music, everyone will come back to the barn to enjoy crafts, goodies, and story time with Santa. Photo sessions are available along with one 4×6 picture either with or without Santa in Raised in a Barn Farm’s special Christmas decor. Raised in a Barn Farm is located at 2100 NC Highway 33 E. Breakfast or Lunch with Santa

Raised in a Barn Farm continues the holiday festivities with hosting either breakfast or lunch with Santa. On Saturday, December 9th, Raised in a Barn Farm will offer two choices to dine with Santa:   the first option is breakfast with Santa from 9 am – 10 am and the second option is lunch with Santa from 12 pm – 1 pm. The meal consists of a homecooked, farm buffet-style meal in the company of Santa. In addition to a delicious meal, participants can enjoy Christmas music, holiday decorations, and photos available with Santa.  Raised in a Barn Farm is located at 2100 NC Highway 33 E. River Rose and the Magical Christmas Storytime

Come to Barnes and Noble at 3040 Evans Street at 11 am on Saturday, December 16th for a reading of, “River Rose and the Magical Christmas,” by award-winning musician and children’s book author, Kelly Clarkson. This event is free and open to the public.
