Special Programs that Educate and Are Fun!

At Children’s Campus of Greenville, we are proud of our 5-star preschool program rating from the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education. A large part of our success is the special educational programs we provide for the experience of your child’s growth and development. These additional special programs give your child opportunities to see, touch, and participate in an active engagement and educational experience.

Even though with the COVID-19 pandemic when many schools have ceased outside education programs, we have been able to keep our special programs going while maintaining the highest safety and sanitization protocols.

Here are the special programs that are active within our 5-star preschool this semester:

Little People’s Creative Workshop for Kids

The Little People’s Creative Workshop for Kids is a special program for young children beginning at age 2. It is designed to give both boys and girls a chance to experience music and dance in a fun and caring atmosphere. Through music and dance, children can develop healthy social, physical, and fitness skills that are foundational and stick with them for life.

This workshop provides a setting for your child to work on balance, flexibility, and coordination. Experiencing a beat and rhythm through music stimulates the brain. Your child is encouraged to move, pantomime, and stretch in a creative, yet controlled, environment using a classical technique that is age-appropriate and specific.

Tumblin’ Tots

The Tumblin’ Tots program gets your child up and moving! This special program is all about physical activity through jumping jacks, arm rolls, crab walk, knee squats, high knees, trampoline, headstands, handstands, and more! Children need to be active every day to promote their healthy growth and development. When they establish healthy lifestyle patterns at a young age, they carry it forward for the rest of their lives. This program involves movement in a way that they learn new skills and have a fun, playful interaction with friends.

Exercise has so many benefits for children such as developing flexibility, coordination, endurance, and strength. By focusing on the fun aspect of physical activity, the child associates it with a positive experience and is more likely to make it a habit for life!!

River Park North

Another special program we love at Children’s Campus of Greenville is the River Park North. River Park North is a nature park located in Greenville that has boating, camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. For our special educational program, the park rangers visit our campus and offer a variety of experiential activities including hands-on interactions with animals, fossils, artifacts, and more.

Learning about different animals enhances the education of children, many of whom may never get to touch that animal again. Seeing a fossil or artifact opens a world of exploration that the child will never forget. These are tremendous experiences for children’s development and growth.

J & S Photography

As we come up with additional special programs, we are always thinking about how we can educate our children with new experiences. Photography is an art that opens an entire universe of possibilities. Showing a child how to use a camera, how to look for things to photograph, and how to tell a story through pictures are wonderful activities for growth and development.

There are all kinds of activities using photography that enhance children’s education. They can learn their colors by looking for objects that are a certain color and photograph them. They can solidify their alphabet by finding objects that begin with a certain letter and photograph them. A simple camera for a child can be a tool in their learning experience.

Other Great Learning Experiences

Here are some of the other learning experiences we provide as special programs:

  • Musical guest guitarist – We have a guest guitarist who visits the younger classrooms giving the infants and toddlers a musical experience.
  • Weekly Spanish classes
  • Kindergarten art classes
  • Sheppard Memorial virtual library – We have a virtual library every other week for children ages 2, 3, toddlers, pre-K, and kindergarten
  • Imagination Station – This special program includes outdoor science experiments.
  • Virtual field trips – Our field trips vary. For example, one we have done was with a farmer who took the pre-school children on a virtual trip to the farm to see the lifecycle of a strawberry and to meet petting zoo animals.
