Our COVID-19 Sanitization Method

At our child care center in Greenville, the health and safety of the children has always been our number one priority. As we re-open after COVID-19, our dedication to health and providing a clean, sanitized space for children to play and grow is more important than ever. That’s why we have improved and increased our sanitization and cleaning methods and wanted to take this opportunity to share our new protocols with current and prospective families.

Hospital-Grade Sanitization of Our Child Care Center

The biggest step we are taking to combat COVID-19 is our new cleaning system. We have partnered with a local company who offers a patented, EPA-registered indoor cleaning system to provide hospital-grade disinfecting and sanitization in a two-step method.

Disinfection

Trained technicians came to our center during our non-open hours to apply disinfectant to every surface and item in our center using a fogging tool to ensure comprehensive coverage. This solution is a broad-spectrum cleaner that has been tested and established to kill:

COVID-19 and SARS-cov-2
Flu, including strains of H1N1, H1N9, and A2
Rotavirus
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
Staphylococcus Aureus (bacteria that causes Staph infection)
Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)
Salmonella
E. Coli
Hepatitis A, B, & C
Norovirus
HIV

Protect

In addition to disinfection, the technicians also used patented, EPA-registered antimicrobial spray to create a line of defense moving forward to kill microbes on content and prevent growth and spread of viruses, bacteria, and mold.

This broad-spectrum solution provides protection against microbes, including COVID-19 for up to 90 days because it binds to surfaces and is effective on all types of porous and non-porous surfaces. Best of all, this antimicrobial solution is 100 percent safe for our center! It is a water-based solution that has no dyes, odors, heavy metals, or toxic chemicals and it contains zero Triclosan, and it is approved for use around food contact under EPA and FDA regulations.

Our entire center was disinfected and protected to ensure safety, including toys, furniture, counter tops, bathrooms, and even our outdoor play equipment was disinfected and given antimicrobial protection so the children can play freely while you can feel confident in their safety.

Safe, Effective Hand Sanitizing

In addition to keeping our center clean and disinfected, we know that when working in close quarters with children, we have to make sure hand washing and sanitizing is a top priority. In addition to hand washing frequently and and ensuring children are washing their hands, we are also using Bioprotect Hand Sanitizer. Not only does it offer six hours of protection against 99.99 percent of germs, viruses, and bacteria, it offers the following benefits:

Free of parabens, sulfates, alcohol, fragrance, and dyes
Uses benzalkonium chloride, a safe, antimicrobial solution, to sanitize hands
Infused with aloe vera to keep skin soft
Instantly effective and offers extended protection
Reduces risk of skin-to-skin transfer of viruses and bacteria as well as skin-to-surface transfer.

Additional Protections Our Child Care Center Takes

In addition to the hospital grade sanitization and hand sanitizer, we also take additional steps:

Parents are dropping off at the front door or at their child’s classroom door – no one but teachers and students in the classrooms.
We are only allowing one family at a time in the foyer to pick-up and drop-off
We have air purifiers that also kill 99.78% of germs in the air of all classrooms and common areas.

As well as sharing the following precautions:

Stay home when sick
Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. In addition to usual hand washing, make sure to wash hands:
- Before and after eating meals and snacks
- After blowing noses, coughing, or sneezing, or when in contact with body fluids
Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
Provide supplies including hand washing stations with soap and water, paper towels, and lined trash cans
Except for diapering or eating, preparing, or serving food, hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol may be used in lieu of hand washing when outdoors if hands are washed upon returning indoors. Hand sanitizer must be stored out of reach of children when not in use.
