If your child is ready for kindergarten, it can be difficult to choose the right option, especially with COVID-19 being a health concern for so many of us. Many public schools are blending online learning and in-class learning, which can be confusing for young children who haven’t been to school before, and homeschooling isn’t the best option for your family.
That’s why Children’s Campus in Greenville, NC is now offering private kindergarten. You can feel confident your child is learning in a safe, nurturing environment that offers the consistency of full-day face-to-face school and the safety of a small class size.
As you are considering the best option for your child, consider what Children’s Campus can provide for your child:
We make sure that every child enrolled in our kindergarten will receive a traditional, uninterrupted kindergarten experience that includes play, social interaction and development, and a curriculum that ensures they are ready to move into first grade in the Pitt County School System.
For over 35 years, elementary school teachers have used Everyday Mathematics to teach children foundational learning of mathematics in accordance with Common Core State Standards while applying real-life learning. We are excited to implement this popular and effective mathematics curriculum that was built on research-based practices to help children not only understand new concepts but retain them, too. Lessons include ongoing routines like following a daily schedule and observing the weather to building blocks of knowledge including finding patterns, identifying money, and introducing addition and subtraction.
Open Court Reading is a core curriculum that is primarily teaching language arts and English. We find that their focus on phonics and reading comprehension strategies is highly beneficial to new readers and uses clear, systematic instruction to provide foundational skills to thrive as the children move into first grade.
In addition to language arts and English, we chose Open Court Reading because it blends science and social studies lessons so children can learn about a wide spectrum of topics without getting overwhelmed.
Our school day begins at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, though extended care from 7:30 A. M. to 6:00 P.M. is available. The school day blends daily online learning in the classroom, as well as small group and full class participation exercises. We provide a morning snack as well as a nutritious lunch and set aside time for recess each day.
Each week, we will send a communication folder home on Mondays as well as weekly at-home tasks to do with your child during the week. Both the folder and homework will need to be returned by Friday so your child’s teacher can review them. Parents will also schedule two planned parent-teacher conferences during the school year.
Any family who enrolls their child in our Kindergarten is required to commit for the full year which runs from September 1 through June 11. Just like traditional kindergarten in a public school, we offer a full school year of 180 days with no distance or virtual learning. Throughout the year, there will be several days for teacher work days, which will give the instructors time for conferences, assessments, and in-depth planning.
